Sialkot, Pakistan
Hi,
I've seen the increase in popularity in travelling to Pakistan over the last couple of years. All travel I've seen seems to centre around Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, etc. I don't hear anything about Sialkot. Is it one of the places in Pakistan you still don't want to go? Has anyone been there recently? I'm looking for any and all information about what a white foreigner could expect while in Sialkot, or Pakistan in general. Thanks! |
Not sure why you think Pakistan travel is increasing in popularity. We went a couple years ago (white foreigners), and saw one other Western tourist the entire time. I've never even heard of Sialkot, and I've never even seen another trip report about Pakistan on this forum, so you're unlikely to get any helpful info here. The Tripadvisor Pakistan forum is much more active, but it's mostly locals and I'd be skeptical if they tell you something is safe.

I have visited Pakistan, following the Karakoram Highway from China, but it was back in 2001. That was before I discovered Fodors, so no TR here (see Travels Round Asia 2001 -- Wilhelm's Words instead).
That trip was with Intrepid, and I recently looked at their current itinerary for Pakistan, only they weren't actually operating it then, and don't even have it listed now. I rather doubt any other company is operating tours there either. As a solo female, I would be reluctant to travel in Pakistan on my own. According to wikipedia Sialkot is in one of the most industrialized ares of Pakistan, can't imagine why anyone would go there. |
I'm considering going there for just the industry.
