Shopping in Phuket, Thailand

Are there any good shopping areas or shopping malls in Phuket?

No "malls" that I recall, but along Patong Beach there are (were) shops. Also, Kata Beach had lots of shops along the main streets. I think you will find plenty to buy there...

There are 3 large Malls, all located in same area between Patong and Phuket Town on the by-pass road area, Lotus is very large supermarket with lots of shops, eateries, absolutely everything, just up from the is Big C, very similar, then the new Central which is huge, lots of shops, eateries, these are large malls, plus even Home-Pro large hypermarket. ASvoid friday nights and Saturday or you will sit for ages in traffic jams.
Patong has a small mall ( ocean ) up the top of Soi Bangla on the left, not that large, about 5 floors, just before you reach rat-U-Thit Road. Also a large mall in Phuket Town.

Shopping in Phuket Town is usually cheaper than Patong Beach. Lotus and Big C are cheapest. Robinson is a bit of a mall, but is more expensive (for alcohol anyway). Central is the biggest and trendiest, and also the most expensive (why it's fairly quiet), but still worth a visit. If you want to see a beautiful shop, visit Index Mall. Index has many great local products including crockery etc which is so different.

I don't know what kind of shopping you're thinking of, but some of the afternoon/night markets around Phuket Town are very good value.
