shopping in bkk
where do some people suggest first time visitors head for shopping if have a couple days in bangkok? Not looking to go crazy, just pick up a few items like interesting reasonable clothes/purses, trinkets, unique pieces to decorate our apt, reasonable antiques/furniture etc. I know we will hit Jim Thompson and the Night Market what else if you had to pick 1-2 other spots to focus on? Thank u!

You need to go to the MBK mall. It is the most amazing mall I've ever been in... and I've been in a LOT of malls as I love to shop.
Also, take a look at NariPhand shop, behind Gaysorn Plaza. Have fun. Carol |
Do the night market before it closes in Feb.

For very good antiques, try L'Arcadia:
http://www.mcdougalladventures.com/category/thailand/ There's a bunch of conflicting reports about the closure of Suan Luam Night Bazaar...according to BradinBangkok who has gone and sussed it out for us, it seems that it will be shut down but possibly not for another year. he caveats that with 'but its thailand so who can say'. Hopefully it will be there. |
the suan lum nite market at the corner of wireless rd and rama IV road....subway stop right there as well
