Shopping at Changi Airport

So am heading oerseas for the fist time on the 15th to SE Asia, 3 weeks in Koh Phi Phi, Koh Samui and Siem Reap, but am transiting through Changi on the way there.
I am after a waterproof camera on the cheapish side for snorkelling adventures, what is the shopping like in T2 and T3 at Changi is it relatively cheap or would it be on par price wise with what you can get them for over the internet??

And for a novice traveller like myself i am curious how one can change terminals etc without clearing immigration???

If you are in the US, you'll find electronics to be cheaper over the internet. Changi will have a good selection of cameras and such and you'll pay maybe 10-20% more than the best US internet price.

PS You change terminals by following transit signs, not the signs to passport control, baggage claim, etc. If in doubt, ask.

I've always found shopping at airports to be on the expensive side. As Kathie says - just follow the signs. They will be in English so you can't get lost.

Thanks all, am coming in from Oz, most internet prices here are pretty good as it is direct imported from asia anyway.

There are very few bargains at Changi. However, the Kaya toast must be sampled. We always get this treat.

When does your flight get into Changi?

MichaelBKK Oct 31st, 2009 10:44 PM

When it comes to electronics, they're cheaper at shops in Singapore than at the airport. Only the standard duty-free items such as booze and cigs are cheaper at the airport.

I get into Changi on SQ 228 at 2135 on the 15th November

We are transiting through Changi in the morning of Novenber 15th. FRA-SIN arrive 7:00 am. SIN-BKK leave 9:40 am. We will scout it out for you. We'll make sure to leave some Kaya toast.

Thanks Panda, do most of the food places there sell it or is it in only a few of the eateries?

Gpanda Nov 1st, 2009 04:32 PM

I remember that it's sold at a central spot in the general waiting area near the free internet computers. You won't have a problem finding it. Yum!

Singapore is more expensive than USA prices for most camera stuff.
