Shopping & Nightlife in Hong Kong
 

Just wanted some advice on where the groovy shops are in Hong Kong for young hip people. I am going to Hong Kong for two nights at the end of the month and don't want to waste any time looking for the right places to shop. Also, any advice on where to eat out and club would be greatly appreciated.

That's quite a general question but the obvious choice is that SOHO area and Causeway Bay may be where you should head for. Or simply get a copy of the BC Magazine available in many coffee shops, bars and restaurants to see what's up for dining and partying.

Thanks for that tip. I was in Hong Kong for a night last week and had no idea where to go out. We were staying in Causeway Bay and had a tough time finding somewhere good to go out. We ended up having a drink in the bar on the top level of the Mandarin Hotel, which didn't really blow me away.

sorry to hear about that. but perhaps with only one night (2 days or 1 day?) you might have needed the advice of your concierge.

Buy yourself a Luxe guide - www.luxecityguides.com - great investment for a short trip as tells you everyhting you need to know and small so handy to carryu - even fits in a jeans pocket! In case u cannot buy it before you reach HK buy it at any Dymock's or Lane Crawford. The trendy shops are either in Central/IFC Mall or at Causeway Bay. Great bars at Lan Kwai Fong which is just off Central MTR station. Some more upmarket clubs like Dragon I in the same general area.

Dragon I is very popular, frequented by local celebs, strictly no shorts, often you can't get in without knowing someone. Lang Kwai Fong is great coz you can go bar/club hopping and there are good places to eat. Shops in Central close earlier than Causeway Bay. When shopping in Causeway Bay, a lot of shops are located on upper floors so don't miss them. Time Square is good for indoor shopping. IFC has mostly expensive brand name shops.

Thanks for all the advice. Had a great two days in Hong Kong. Went for dinner at Dragon I and ended up being the last to leave, at around 4am. Went to IFC but couldn't afford to shop there. Bought a great handbag from a store in Causeway Bay called 'Staccato'. I definitely did not have enough time to do everything I needed to do. Have to get back there as soon as I can.
