Sharing a little secret...
I'm doing some search on-line for info on a few places in Nepal. Planning a short visit, guess 8 days in October'15. Chitwan NP is on the agenda. Probably 3 nights. A couple of nights in Pokhara, while Kathmandu will be a stopover. While at it, I stumbled across - 'Secret Retreats ' which showcases some exclusive properties across Asia. Some of you may already know about,if not here it is. Could be of help.

An interesting assortment of places. Thanks for posting, inquest.

Kathie, Glenburn Tea Estate is on there. If i recall right, you had some interesting (and somewhat disappointing) experiences there. Your story inspired me to find other far less expensive tea estates

CaliNurse, I saw that. Still, there are some lovely places on the list.

What led me to the link is the Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge.Looks a pretty place with a great backdrop of the Himalayas.

Indeed, it looks lovely. Any info on how much damage they sustained in the quake?

Not sure of the ground realities, most hotel web-sites claim all is well and business as usual.Hope its true. Most of the damage done was to the brick and mortar structures which constitute a majority of buildings in Nepal. Many being centuries old.Nepal, I guess had never experienced tectonics of this magnitude for centuries and probably never prepared for it.Though, there was a warning of impending danger,it was never perceived as 'this soon'.
I may not be spending time in Kathmandu at all ( i've been there a couple of times earlier).Eager to know about the Pokhara region. |
I will look forward to your report. I've never been to the Pokhara area.
