SHANGHAI SHOPPING

Does anyone know if there are outlet women's clothing stores in Shanghai for American sizes and Brands, e.g.Ann Taylor, DNKY, etc?

Have never seen this is all of Asia - good luck!

I don't think I have ever heard of one in Shanghai. They would have a hard time selling American sized clothing there.

Option 1:
The best bargain in town is the department stores either on NanJian Lu or HuaHai Lu. You can buy 100% wool J.Crew style sweaters for $8. They are Chinese brands, so you won't recognize the name.

Option 2:
There is a flea market on HuaHai Lu for a mix of genuine and knock-off goods.

Option 3:
There is a fabric alley near NanJian Lu where there are Shanghai tailors that will make clothes for you, especially slacks and Chinese dresses. Shanghai tailors are famous in China and they are not expensive.

Both the fabric alley and the flea market is one of a kind place in Shanghai, you won't have any problem finding it. (Pretty much all the shopping is around NanJian Lu and HuaHai Lu.)

Thank you all for your answers especially SBOBAO. The detailed info is much appreciated and hopefully I'll find something over there to purchase.

I believe the flea market referred to above is Xiang Yang market on the corner of Huai Hai Rd and Xiang Yang Rd. I don't really think that there's much in the way of genuine articles there. Of course, the vendors will all say they're "genuine" but when considering how much to pay for the goods, you should treat them as knock-offs. I bought some "Chanel" sweaters there last time and don't believe for a second that they're actually the real thing ;) The quality varies widely so do shop around. Once in a while, you can find some gems if you spend the time looking. Keep in mind that you'll likely need to look for clothing that's about 2 sizes up from American sizes. I wear XS or S here and I have to buy M or L there. Same goes for my husband, he buys M to L here and needs to look for XL there.
