Seoul and Busan in September
 

Hi all,

I will be arriving in Seoul on Saturday, travelling with a 1 and 5 year old. Ive been to Seoul once before with friends so Im not totally new to the country and we are staying in Namsan. I understand it has been wild weather in Seoul so I'm hoping that it normalises a little, but also wanting to be organised. I also understand that it is a 3 day public holiday (Chuseok) next week when we will be in Seoul.

Looking for any sugestions or advise about:

1/ Places to go with kids in Seoul or general tips about travelling with young children.
2/ Suggested rainy/humid day activities for kids - I've currently noted Lotte World, War Museum, DDP, Coex/Lotte Malls.
3. Any good holiday related events/activities - I've heard Namsan Hanok village is a good one to visit this time of year.
4. Is Lotte World OK on a rainy day or would you miss out on too much?

I saw many children, of all ages, enjoying the Korean Folk Village -- a day trip out of Seoul. You might take a look to see if you think it would suit your family.

In Busan, the beach and very impressive aquarium.

1 year old is obviously very young and is easily transportable. Make sure you have a baby carrier. You might want to consider how the 1 year old will be situated when you go to a restaurant.

Lotte World is half indoors, half outdoors. It is a wonderful place.

My daughters were 5 and 7 the first time we went to Korea and Lotte world is still one of our favorite memories of Seoul! (My girls are in their late 30's now!) The rides are quite different from places like Disneyland. If you arrive before it opens, they usually have some sort of show as the first visitors arrive. The Korean Folk village will be nice, as long as the weather isn't too wet/windy.

Seoul Children's Grand Park is great on rainy days. Lots of indoor play areas and activities to keep them busy. Consider buying an umbrella stroller if you don't have one already. Makes navigating museums, malls, etc much easier with young kids. For meals out, many family restaurants have play areas. Help keep the kids entertained while you eat. Chuncheon and everland may be worth considering for a day trip too. Everland is like a Korean Disney. A bit of a drive but kids would love it.

There are tons of regular tourist things to enchant children in Korea. Traditional markets, temples, grandfather statues and other folk art. My kids loved all those things form a very young age in addition to a place like Lotte World.
