SE Asia itinterary help
Planning our trip to SE Asia and we've had to change things a bit. Now we have the wonderful problem of having 3 days we can't decide what to do with. We'll be going in Jan-Feb...We're not beach people. Here's what we've got so far: 4 nights in Hanoi, overnight on Halong Bay, 2 nights in Hue, 3 in Hoi An, 2 in Saigon, 3 in Phnom Penh, 5 in Siem Reap, and 6 in LP. Suggestions? Is this too much/too little time in each place?
Thanks! |
You mention Thailand in your title, but I don't see it in your itinerary. Are you heading to Thailand? Bangkok is definitely worth some time.
|
Thailand is not in the plan - but I'm wondering if it should be with only 3 days.
|
Have you been before? Three days really isn't enough time.
|
It's a nice amount of time in each place. Have you figured in your travel time? You'll typically use up half or more of a day getting from place to place (count from checking out of one hotel to getting to the next). If you haven't figured in travel time, I'd suggest another day in HCMC, for instance. If Hanoi is your first stop, you may want another day to recover from jetlag. Or, you could add in Vientiane for a couple of days.

I think it is about 2 days too much in Luang Prabang. I would add in 2 days in Vientiane.
|
I agree you could reduce your time in Luang Prabang and then break your journey in Vientiane.
You might consider using your extra time in the Mekong Delta say 2 nights Can Tho and 1 night Chau Doc. Then travel by boat from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh. I assume you are on top of visa requirements. It should be a great trip. Tony |
I agree with others. You should reduce the time in Luang Prabang. 3 days 2 nights are enough time to visit Luang Prabang.
You should visit Mekong Delta Area. Overnight at homestay in vinh Long is a good option. If you want, I can give you the detailed program. |
