SE Asia in March/April
Hi.
We would like to visit SE Asia next March/April. Our destinations are Singapore & Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket, northern part). With regard to climate and crowds, is this a good time to go? Thanks... |
BKK will be hot and humid-in April.

Take a look at weatherbase.com and worldclimate.com for those months and those places, and you will see average temps and rainfall. Good news is that the winter monsoon is over in all those places by March/April so there will be very little rain. Bad news is that it will be very, very hot in Bangkok (as opposed to just being very hot like in most other months....) Singapore’s temps don’t change very much over the year, and heaviest rainfall is in the winter months, so you should be good. Those months are good for Phuket, IMO, although March and early April would be better than later in April. (If you really want to avoid rain, instead of Phuket go to the east coast of Thailand like Koh Samui or the east coast of Malaysia, excellent weather then.)
All in all a good time, esp if you can arrange to be in Thailand for Songkran, their new year, which is a 3- day holiday which starts on April 13 in 2006. Great fun and a great festival to observe. |
We were this April in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand.
We were in April because our main reason for this trip was Japan - during cherry blossom. While in Japan the weather was very, bery good, in Taiwan good, in Singapore and in special in Thailand was very, very hot and humid. I know that the recommended time to visit Thailand and Singapore is December - February. |
