SE Asia in April
I'm off to BKK in mid April, and have 4 days or so for a side trip...has anyone traveled in the area (general SE Asia) during that month? I know it's the hottest; just wondering if you have advice. (Hanoi is one i'm thinking of...) Many thanks!

hanoi is one and 4 days is perfect for it...also are siem reap cambodia (angkor wat)---4 days would give you a good overview and allow you to see quite a bit....myanmar (burma) is another but probably limited to yangon area only....bali is another but 4 days is really not enough...luang prabang, laos is another and in fact the one i am choosing for june this year for 4 days...
there are all the beach areas in thailand and chiang mai and chiang rai....it largely depends on what you want to see and do....all are totally different....the foreign places to thailand are generally cheaper than the thai resorts... |
thanks...actually i've been to siem reap and LP...was concerned mostly about the intense april heat in the region, and if there are places that offer a respite (i was told Myanmar, unfortunately, is "unbearable" in April). But after Chicago winters, i shouldn't complain about 103 degrees i guess....

Hi Jim
We visited Myanmar early April and it was warm but certainly not unbearable. Days around 30 degreesC. Plan to visit places like Chiang Mai & Hanoi which are both north and are far cooler than BKK and Saigon. |
We visited Vietnam and Cambodia in mid-April. The daytime high temperatures in Central Vietnam and Cambodia were slightly over 100 F, but with lots of bottled water, we enjoyed the sights. Daytime high temperatures in Hanoi and Halong Bay were in the 80s.
