SARS safety

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone traveled to Beijing or Shanghai recently? How is the SARS situation there? Is it safe to travel there?

Thank you so much.

I was in those two cities last April, where they just had announced a new case of SARS in Beijing, but it was an isolated case, so to answer your question, yes, the SARS situation in China has been contained-it would appear, however, that avian influenza is considered a far more dangerous epidemiological threat at the moment than SARS.

For more information, go to the cdc website: www.cdc.gov/travel, select "East Asia" from the drop down "destinations" box, and read the health information sheets on China.

Hi Cocor
I live in BJ and lived here during SARS. It is a non-issue now. In total, only about 350 people in China died of SARS.

Today, and everyday in China, 300 people die in auto accidents... EVERY DAY!!!! You have a greater chance of auto related incidents than SARS.

My advice would be to wash your hands thoroughly and buckle up.
