Sad new from EMD about her daughter...
 

I got a message from EMD this afternoon regarding her daughter, Celine. She asked that I post here and in the Lounge. EMD had posted a trip report on their trip to Japan 10 yrs ago on the Asia board, and several Asia board members had met her.

So, with a heavy heart, I give you her message:

<i>My daughter Celine died of an accidental overdose two days ago. I found her dead in bed in our home. She was plagued with mental illness (bipolar diagnosed this yr), eating disorder, and addiction issues. She had just returned from 4 months of rehab and sober living house in LA/Malibu, she got home 5 wks ago. She was very depressed and nothing pharmacological eased the severe depression.

Celine was a bright light diminished too soon, age 23, graduated from Radford Univ in VA last May.

Many fodorite's know of my son Casey's mental health struggles w schizophrenia the last 5 yrs, many fodorite's contributed in his name to my NAMI walk in 2014. Let them know that Casey is doing better, taking his meds since he admitted himself to psych hosital for a month in early Jan of this yr. But his heart is aching for his sister. Please pray for all of us if you are so inclined. Thank you.

Such sad news. My condolences to EMD and her son and all who knew and loved Celine.

Wow very sorry to hear this. My condolences to them and their friends and family. Recently a 17 yr. old cousin of my sons wife tragically took his own life after taking a hallucinogenic drug. I remember him from their wedding. So hard. :(.

Hi, emd here (eileen). I hope mywunrfl sees this. He and Mara on here had met Celine. We had dinner w Mara in NYC once and we met with mywunrfl in Kyoto for a matsuri geisha performance (just magical) and dinner. Celine said fodors for me is like Facebook was to her. My angel is free now. Peace to you all. And love. Love really is all that matters...

This is just heartbreaking.
Her mother-daughter Japan trip report was one of my top favorites, and I was so impressed by emd's honest sharing regarding mental health issues.
Wishing emd and all her family peace and strength at such a sad time.

Oh, Eileen. Am so sad. I do pray for all of you. Please pass this on to them. Attending the Miyako Odori and dinner with you and Celine was such an honor. It was magical and my ichiban experience in Japan because I got to share it with both of you. Peace and love to you and Joe and Casey and Celine.

I am sorry for your tragic loss. I can only imagine your heartbreak & pain you must be feeling.

Eileen...my sincerest condolences. I know the drill, lost my oldest daughter to breast cancer two years ago after a valiant 2 year battle. Today we are having a baby naming for my great granddaughter and Gayle (who would have been the grandma)will be sorely missed.
