Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu and Asakusa neighborhood?

Has anyone stayed at this ryokan? The nightly charge ($87) seems low--compared to other Tokyo hotels. Perhaps it's to attract tourists at this time. Is the Asakusa neighborhood a good area to stay in terms of getting to other Tokyo landmarks?

The neighborhood is crowded with tourists everyday and you are in the heart of it at Shigetsu. Lots of eating, shopping and Sensoji Temple almost next door but I have read reviews about the place and its has dani(bed bugs)reports especially in the summer months. When you have bed bugs in the tatami mats......well its better to replace the mats but that is expensive to do.

They do have western style rooms there as you mentioned in your previous post your backs dislike of sleeping on the ground. I would wager that the 87.00 nightly charge is per person.

Aloha!

Though I'm pretty sure that Shigetsu's Western style rooms are single only, as in one single bed.

I'm considering this hotel for my Tokyo trip in December; nice, new and well-located in Asakusa.

i've stayed at the shigestu during sanja matsuri, and it was a nice hotel. i paid 9000y. i had a single western room, and it was just big enough for a single person. great location.

if you plan to stay there, don't forget to go to have some kaiten sushi at maguro bito. excellent kaiten sushi.
