Royal Orchid Sheraton Boat
Thought this might be of interest to Kathie
Wayne Buckingham, managing director of Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Bangkok recently announced the introduction of a shuttle boat service for guests of the hotel.
The boat is beautifully built in traditional Thai style with a hotel attendant on board to welcome passengers with a refreshing cold drink and towel. Plasma TV, newspapers and stereo are also provided for a more enjoyable ride.
The complimentary service operates from 7am-7 pm between the hotel and the pier at the nearby Taksin Bridge skytrain station. After operating hours, the boat is available for light cocktails on board for a maximum of 40 guests.

Saw this lovely little boat going down to the skytrain in August when we were in Bangkok. A nice addition to the river and will be great if you are staying at the ROS.
There are now some really lovely hotel boats on the river - hopefully the new Hilton will improve on their's which is a lousy looking thing!

This is good news. Back in the old days, they had a boat that went up and down the river stopping at the Oriental pier. So I'm glad to see it back! For the last few years, I've just taken the water taxi to Taksin but this will be even more convenient.
Thanks, Scotters!

Unfortunately, all the ferries and taxis stop at 7pm due to darkness. It's one of the reasons I've never liked the Marriott, since there's no way to go out in the evening without using a taxi. But I guess I'm in the minority on that.
