I just stayed at ROS using points. At check in, she asked if I'd like to upgrade to a Towers room for US$40 -- which is a pretty good deal, versus using points to upgrade. In fact she asked me why most people opt to pay instead of using their points -- so we did the math together.

(The views at ROS are great, yes, but the Sheraton Grande is superior in every other sense...)

Thanks for all your answers. Bob, we'll just have to suffer at the Sheraton Minus! I think maybe I'm confusing Gallery in BKK with a restaurant in Chiang Mai maybe? Departure in 8 days - am getting info overload. Bob - just finished your trip report last night and realized it's 2005's; gotta find and print out last month's now! Gpanda - do love that speedo! The Gallery Cafe is one of our favorites and a very short walk from the ROS. Right out of lobby, follow the road as it turns to the left, the restaurant is on your right just before you get to the main road (Charon Kreung). The eggplant is superb.

They also have massages upstairs that are very good.
