Rooms at The Chedi Phuket?

We are considering a stay at The Chedi Phuket in late November, but can't find any descriptions/pictures of the different types of rooms to choose from. Have you stayed at The Chedi? What are the best rooms/locations between the Hillside, Superior, Deluxe or Beach cottages?

Hi kdaily,

If you would like to stay at the Chedi IMO I would (and did) choose the beach cottages. However, be prepared to dodge (and listen to) coconuts falling from the trees - it sounds pretty funny but they are amazingly loud! Also, the beach cottages, while on the beach, are set back a little bit which can be nice as there were several topless sunbathers there when we last stayed, not really a problem for us but it was the attached behaviour that was a little beyond the normal - in fact several of the women went so far as to eat lunch at the poolside tables topless, and as we travel with preteen boys who are accustomed to traveling in Europe so are comfortable with the whole sunbathing thing but were cracking up at the topless diners, wanderers back to their room, couples truly getting into "it" etc. so we (as parents - the boys were crushed) appreciated the privacy and bit of seclusion. Actually my whole answer to your question sounds pretty funny! Anyway, my vote would be for a beach cottage (also of note was that the rooms needed a bit of TLC). Haave fun!!

Stayed at the Chedi because it is a sister hotel to the fabulous Datai in Langkawai (Malaysia).
Stay was OK, but the USD meals turned us off, and it was a bit way off from the town, the only reosrt within walking distance was also a 5 stars resort. Expensive for simple meals.
Sunsets were fantastic.

Dear kdaily,

Just wanted to add for clarity that while the Chedi does have a fairly good reputation and we have stayed there several times we will not go back anytime soon (middle-age topless women in restaurants and explicit views of "fun" on the beach aside) as we feel that it is living on it's reputation - service and room quality were quite poor IMO for the rate in fact we have stayed at this resort since it was the Pansea (we loved it!) and I haven't really noticed the cottages/rooms receiving any updating/ renovation since then. Our overall evaluation - not awful just not worth a return visit. However, if you have your heart set on staying at the Chedi the beach cottages are the best of the lot IMO.
