rkkwan's Sichuan photos from winter 09 finally posted!

Sorry for the delay, but finally all photos from this trip to Sichuan posted:

http://rkkwan.zenfolio.com/sichuan1209

First 4 albums document our visit to schools built by Sowers Action in the Yi-minority area in southwest Sichuan. Butuo County to be exact. The rest are from sightseeing in and around Chengdu.

For giant panda photos, you can jump straight to Day 6, but please check out the incredible exhibits at the Sanxingdui musuem following the pandas.

And, the trip report for the first part of the trip is here: http://www.fodors.com/community/asia...inter-2009.cfm

Great photos, as always! I loved seeing the children in the schools (that's my own education background for 33 years) and the schools. And the pandas... oh, the pandas! Thanks so much for sharing!

Ray these are wonderful! I've had Sichuan on my "to go" list for some time and your pics may have bumped it up to a better position! I bet you ate really well!

I made a Google Map for the places we visited:

Great idea of making a map. Do any of the places you ate at stand out and is their anything in particular you would recommend as a must order? Do many places in Chengdu have english or picture menus? Last time we went to China we found it quite challenging when going to restaurants and we often found ourselves eating ritz crackers because it was easier. I don't want to take the easy route this time but would appreciate any recommendations.

None of the places we ate at has English menus. But in general, it's not hard to just point. At the famous Longchaoshou (龙抄手), there are picture menus for the cheap meals on the ground floor and basement. They have I think three other floors, at increasing cost/luxury. You'll probably find English menus upstairs.

Anyways, I am not a foodie and everything tastes good to me, so I have no specific recommendations. You will find food everywhere in Chengdu.
