River City in Bangkok
 

Me again on the not fun subject of cell phones. New goal is to avoid having to go to MBK to get sim card and phone. Anyone know if there is a place in River City I could go? I do want to get it somewhere where they speak english and will install the sim card for me. River City would be easy since I'll be at the Oriental but if there are other places nearby let me know. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that there is no stores to buy sims cards in River City. If you walk the other way, towards the main sky train, Saphan Taksin, there is a Robinsons dept store. You might be able to find something there. Don't forget to check the basement where there are several small shops and grocery store.

I was wondering about Robinsons since that's an easy walk.Stitchintime-- when will you be in Thailand? I'm wondering if we overlap anywhere.

i would think that maybe at the robinsons complex near taskim you might find something....also emporium should have something, and central chitlom...paragon too or any mall....

ask your friends at O for a suggestion nearby....probably along new road....

Bob-- I'm an idiot. With all my hysteria I forgot that I could just ask at the Oriental and if worse comes to worse have them put the thing in and check it for me. And if they can't or don't do it I may have to rethink my hotel selection. :-)
