So, I am awake at 2am....wide awake, reading your posts from last years trip.

"65 minutes later we were in Phuket." ~?????

Really? The guidebook said 2 hr flight, but you can do it in 1 hour? I am kicking myself to think I could have included it in our trip. Definitely next time.

As you stated, you start your planning early. I might try the same this year too.

Phuket is indeed one hour from Bangkok. Do give it a chance next time, onetwothreefourfive.

It's 4:15 in the afternoon BKK time. We have just returned from our New Year festivities in Pattaya!

I certainly understand being wide awake at 2am! Been there, done that! Glad you made it home.

Thank you Bob and Karen,
Loved this report, just started it today (Jan 6) You do the best job of taking us along on your trips.... It just transports me to the Far East every time.
So glad to know that our contributions for Andy's memorial gifts were personally delivered. Will look at the photos tomorrow.
Again, loved reading all of this.

i forgot to report to you that the 3 nesting tables which K bought me for Xmas arrived about a week ago... they were surface shipped from laos thru the post office on dec. 5. it was a huge double lined box with every surface wrapped in a heavy cardboard. both boxes were lined with 1/2 " styrofoam.... the box had 1,100,000 kip stamps on it. i think i paid about $295 incl full insurance.

there was not so much as a scratch on the box.
