Spent another quiet day yesterday. Changed hotels at midday. Now we are at Renaissance on Plenochit in a club room-- large corner room, an upgrade which I asked for.
Lounge is nice here and we had drinks and hours there last night making it a light dinner.
Going back shortly for breakfast.
K is having a haircut later this AM, just up the road at the Amari Mall. No other plans for today..

After 1/2 sandwich for lunch we decided to arrange for our transport to the airport Sunday AM.
P and L will be here tomorrow night, so there will be 4 of us and quite a few suitcases. We are heading to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. BTW, if you fly there and only there (no mainland VN), you do not need a visa.
A van has been arranged for 1500B ($45.)-- twice the cost of an SUV, but at least as twice as big. Perfect for us.
The concierge who arranged the van (hotel van 2500B btw), also told us of 2 massage places here in our complex. We went to one on he ground floor about 3 doors down from the hotel. Body Tune.
Very clean and loverly slightly older experienced ladies working there. K had an oil massage and I had a foot/leg massage--- total 1150B (34+ dollars plus tips) for both. We were both very pleased.
I find myself wanting a decent dinner tonight.

My other sandal arrives tonight-- I know you all have been waiting for that.
No Chinese food for us last nite as the grub in the club was sufficient and quite good. Chinese is on for tonight at our hotel's Fei . They specialize in Peking duck, but we are the only Fodorites who don't like it.
P & L's plane arrives about 11 tonight. YEA...
We had breakfast in the lounge as usual today. Late AM we got a cab to Royal Orchid Sheraton on the river. Their boat goes every 1/2 hour, starting at 10AM, to Iconsiam Mall, before continuing to Taskin skytrain stop. Looks like one of the best ways to get there. On the way home we took one of the Iconsiam tourist boats to River City/Sheraton, which takes you to the public pier between the two.
Our reason for going back to the new mall was to pick up my new glasses. Perfect fit, clear vision. My bi-focals with frame at 50% discount were only $112. K's frames at 50% off were only $83.--- decent quality, but of course not Cheryl quality.
Went back to Nara again for lunch-- I did not like it as well this time.
Ride back to hotel from Sheraton was long--- driver spoke little English and really did not know where he was going and I gave him 1 wrong turn on Plenochit which caused us more distress, but he did know some back roads and U turns. His meter was not rigged so fare was only 127B.
We sent laundry out via via the bell captain this AM. Special offsite place costing only 100B ($3) per kilo, plus a transport charge of 240B ($7).---- a bit stiff but everything came back nicely this PM.
Glasses pics to follow. K has to put eye makeup on--- figures!!!
If P & L agree when we meet them at 9 for breakfast we will have a busy day tomorrow. First stop soi 93 at the Jim Thompson outlet-- K wants some fabric for Penny to make her pj pants--- Linda may want something as well. We may have lunch there or go to Bangkok Baking Co at the JW Marriott before we visit K's jeweler again, at Peter's request. We will also be visiting SJ International, Kathie's fav jeweler where P&L have had good luck in the past (if you call them they will pick you up).

I don't know what kind of a Chinese restaurant Fei Ya is... imagine no egg foo Young or egg rolls on the menu.
Food was good once they got their act together--- very, very slow and disjointed.

Watched The Pickers on tv tonight...
Right up to breakfast at 8:30 today. P&L were waiting. Shoe delivered.
Talked about a million things over breakfast. Decided we would Taxi to Jim Thompson Outlet. Took expressway part of the way to save time. Outlet is on soi 93, Sukhumvit.
Things are changing there. Lots less merchandise and less fabrics. There was a sign saying that in 2019 the fabric styles will change to more geometric styles and a more natural look. I took it that they ay eliminate bulk fabrics at the outlet.
From there we took a taxi to soi 2 to the JW Marriott for lunch at the Bangkok Baking Co. Delicious sandwiches. We walked from there to K's jeweler around the corner at the Nana Hotel.
Peter looked at rings and loose stones for himself. I ordered a ring for K that I had seen online in a Tiffany ad.
Taxi back to our hotel. Asked staff to make a res at Biscotti at the old Four Seasons for 7 for us.
Relaxed for an hour or so and then had drinks in the Lounge.
Taxied around the corner to Anantara Siam (4 seasons), taking a great shortcut through a couple of alleys.
pictures of our dinner to follow.
Tomorrow is a trip to SJ, Kathie's jeweler in the AM. May also see dressmaker??
In the evening we will meet Pook, former Fodors man on the scene in Bangkok, for dinner at Zinotti. We always love seeing him and his family.
