Glad you posted here Bob, I've been watching for your report and thought I might have missed it. Sorry you experienced the near mugging, but at least you had the prescence of mind to fend them off and also not let it spoil the rst of your stay in BA.

What did you think of the steaks in BA? Were they as great as one hears? Personally, I thought I had had better in the US.

Great report!

Great report so far, Bob. I am glad you are reporting here.

Glad you made it back safely.

Your Dinner stories are bringing back memories... Argentine steaks are huge...we ended up leaving 3/4 of each of our steaks. Not that the steak was'nt great, but we were already full from the tasty little bread rolls, a huge salad and soup leading up to the steak.

The best part of the meal for us was the appetizer combo plate...huge, with 12 items, and all very tasty...for about $12, as I recall. This was at a restaurant close to Florida St, along the riverfront area.

I agree Gran Cafe Tortoni is overpriced and over hyped...but we had to go there too...cafe is the planning site where several of Argentina's revolutions were hatched.(I did read some history about the place before we went)

What did you think of Recoletta cemetery, Bob. Did I miss it, or are you planning to write about it later.

Nice trip report so far. Alberto is quite nice and very informative about BA. A gracious host for the city.

It's not enough that he bores us to tears with his ridiculous Asia vacations, now we are being subjected to some tedious South American travels. What's next? A Sunday outing to Newton? Returning library books (as if he actually reads)?

I can't believe those guys I hired left any of his clothes intact. Just goes to show, you don't get what you pay for.

The editors should delete this as some form of advertising.

Panda pelts are as smooth as a baby's ____.

Is there anyone other than Karen who could imagine taking a 13 hour bus ride with Bob? Anyone? Anyone? It would make Sartre's "No Exit" look like a comedy.

i did think i short changed the cemetery.....its amazing...its huge.... no regular stones there but rather small houses really, often with very elaborate statuary, stained glass windows, columns, gates.....we visited the durante building, which is where evita is burried... the cemetery gives you the feeling of being in a minature city with no grass....

steaks: we loved them, but we think the US steaks are equally tasty and tender. for the price however argentine steaks win....

portions....never each order a dinner....share each dinner because the portions are so huge and that way you can also have more variety...

when i put my pics up, you will better understand some of what i have written...

i am slow getting off the ground it seems...

bob
