Can anyone imagine looking forward to spending time with Bob? Smeagol has clearly forgotten how much he embarrassed us all at Cyan. Perhaps she has alerted the Bobbies and they are waiting for him.

Hey, I wondered if you'd gone yet. I agree with you about the roads. Everyone says they're so bad, but I just didn't see it. Agree with you about the food too. Meat, cabbage, sour cream. Not bad, but not really inspiring. I don't think they allow spice in Romania.

By the way, if you get the urge for pizza, watch them like a hawk. They'll whip out that bottle of ketchup before you know it and try to squirt it all over the top. I got amazed looks when I said "nu multumesc".

Nikki-First of all, I have no memory of my participation in any disruption. You must be mistaken.

Second of all, after my last trip to the UK I was officially declared a personna non grata. Soemthing to do with the overuse of the phrase Pommey B______.

Third of all, have you lost your mind? Friends dining with Bob? Do you hate them? Oh! I know. You're friends are Romanian and you're hoping to avoid having MR. Needham World Traveller bore you to death with the most minute detail of his recent travels. Perfect. Good strategy.

What makes you think he's getting back in the US? Think Charlie Chaplin and other undesireables.

Plus, are your friends delusional? Have you minimized Bob's faults? Are you looking to rid yourself of these "friends"?

People like to visit freak shows as well. De gustibus non disputandum est. Even Bob.

Face it, gpanda, some people find Bob likeable. I do, for instance.

I apologize to everyone else for doing this. I'm just taking one last look at the list before we leave town. We are off in 2 hours for Thailand with our family of 7 people (including our 3 and 5 year old grandchildren.) No time to write directly. Remind me after Thanksgiving to write you about our time in Romania when my husband and I did some volunteer projects in Bucharest.

In matters of taste, this appears to be a dispute. And "decent exposure"??? I believe I have photographic evidence to the contrary. I would suppose any ensuing discussion of it would result in "what constitutes decent?".

BC-to know, know, know him is to hate, hate, hate him. And I do. He has pulled the wool over many a Fodorite's eyes, but Pandas have clear vision.

BTW, go ahead and google Needham, yesterday's date and crime. See what you get.

Pandas have huge, dark circles around their eyes, and I argue this prevents them from seeing clearly. While the crime in Needham was shocking and horrific, we're all aware that Bob is an upstanding citizen. If you'd seen the crime stats for the locale of my birthplace (and where I spent the first 18 years of my life), it might erroneously lead you to the conclusion that I am a wanton degenerate with no respect whatsoever for human life.

BC-I would never accuse you of being wanton. Plus, the large cicles are decorative and cute. Pandas are universally regarded as warm, fuzzy and friendly.

As I said, Bob can't pull the wool over my eyes I wear only cotton and silk..
But I do respect you because
There are only about 1,000 giant pandas left in the wild. Perhaps 100 pandas live in zoos, where they are always among the most popular attractions. Much of what we know about pandas comes from study of these zoo animals, because their wild cousins are so rare and elusive. You are one of the wild feral ones
