James wouldreally appreciate that if you could check those out.
I guess what i would really like from my stay at HH is a nice "Thai" hotel with good facilities bar, pool etc but close enough to walk to some cool restuarants bars etc...not desperate to stay right in town though... At the mo i think my faves are Hyatt (although still worried about the "chain" hotel thing) Wora Bura and lets sea (although this may be too small) as i said previously my head is spinning, although we are definately set on 6 nights in HH then 6 in BKK. Have checked out AAC and they are really great value so i think i will go with them and not leave it till i get there. If i book a return journey to pick me from BKK will they drop me off at the Pen on the return leg? am assuming i don'thave to go all the way back to the airport (surely a dumb question but i like to cover all bases) |
[email protected] seems to work the best for AAC...i prefer an advance res....in doing so i hope to get a fresh driver for the longish drive---3-4 hours from the old airport...
they want cash for payment btw...there are atms near to their old desk...not sure about new airport... as james points out any limo company is fine, but i have almost always used AAC... |
Bob
I noticed on their web that you can pay by credit card upfront, would you advise this or just cash when we get there? Agree with you, if its all booked its one less thing i will have to worry about after a 12 hour flight. Do they provide water at all? if not i will get some at the airport for our trip down to HH. |
they have always told me they want cash....i would never pay up front for something i did not need to...it only takes seconds to pay on arrival...
they have not been consistent with the cold water....sometimes yes, sometimes no...with your longish ride i would buy some....they did stop mid way for bathroom/7-11 snacks without us asking... i would be prepared and have it in hand... |
"Let's Sea" hotel is not finished yet, it was only being built a few months back, you can bounce from the plus points to minus points of different resorts, and it is valid that there are actualy so many 'really good places' that decisions can be tough. I don't think you would be in any way dissapointed with the Hyatt, one of it's Thai restaurants in the garden has a great setting and I think arriving there, the foyer, look down to the sculptured Elephants you will be happy.
There 'is' a 40 minute hoper flight, 12 seater ( single engine ), it's about USD 135 'return' One way is about USD 85 per person, but the next flight would be 1830 and by that time you would be getting there by limo anyhow! |

Thanks Guys, it is a comfort to have so much great advice.
I think we are now set on 6 nights Hyatt HH and then 6 nights Pen BKK (unless i change my mind again!!!! or unless you come up with a little gem James) Thanks again watch out for more posts from me & Bob will sort out maybe a meet for drinks???? if not in HH then maybe BKK GTG? |
the hyatt site says the construction is to finish in oct, which is probably very optimistic....but like all projects the work at the end is mostly inside not out....for this reason i did debate whether to have club rooms or regular rooms (way away from construction)...ultimately decided on club...if they are not good i figure you can have your room moved...
drinks in either spot is fine with us... anxious to try let's sea...and others |
Bob
am just online on the Hyatts web site and am also going to book a club king. Did you book thru the hotel web? also i think breakfast is included with club rooms but they are also doing a rate that includes Breakfast??? so i may as well go for the cheaper rate. |
Asiaoz have Hyatt November for USD 198 inc tax, service and breakfast but don't know about the Club King rooms
http://b2b.hotelclub.net/enter.asp?i...p%3Fid%3D11374 If you are in the US another that 'may' inteest you ( note taxes not included however they do give a huge long list of options on rooms and meal arrangements, i think some can even include dinner ) and they are US based with phone help, anyway for the Hyatt: http://www.res99.com/hotel/10006005-11275891O.html I found that on Asiaoz too |
Thanks James will check them out now.
Am actually in the UK but doesn't do any harm to look!!! Already have too many restuarants to go to and too few nights after reading some of your old post... |
If you opt for a Regency Club room, breakfast is inclused as are evening drinks and canapes.
|
yes i booked directly on the hyatt site....i think the breakfast in the club is a smaller version of the buffet offered elsewhere.....if we use kathie's name, the waiter will give you seconds on coffee...
we have two days club and two 'free' days in a regular room---FF miles so we will have a mini GTG,,, |
the 198 reate is for a standard room....club is about $50 more usually...so james' site is not a bargain
|
Pity R24 hasn't come in with those rates yet!
|
Do you think i should hold out for R24?? am anxious not to miss the regency club rooms (and after the nightmare i had with booking my flights a LOOOONGGGG story) i dont want to miss out BUT would R24 be a substantial saving do you think?
|
they have told me that the rates are going to be posted in september....i think you could hold out....book the rooms on the hyatt site and just cancel them if you get the r24 rooms when they finally post them...
i wrote down the HH.20m (same as r24) price from last winter as $209 for club room inclusive, so i decided that the rooms directly from hyatt were not that much more and this way you get points too and maybe a better room??? |
Hyatt maintains that theu have the lowest rate on their website. Their best rate is usually a "hyatt.com" rate and must be paid in full in advance. I also often call the Hyatt and see if they have a better rate.
|
I thought too that it "may" be better to book direct and as you say the saving at the moment doesn't appear substantial. (although Asiarooms is quite good value at the mo but i don't want to have to prepay.
Am going to book thru Hyatt and the Pen direct and keep a watch on the prices elsewhere. Heres to a Thai cocktail in the club lounge........ |
i'll be there
