Restaurants in Phuket

We shall be going soon to Phuket and would like to get recommendations on restaurants (all types welcome). Thank you in advance.

Joelle, Phuket is a very big island, where are you staying? Peg

We will be staying on the west coast of Phuket (Bang Tao Bay and Nai Harn). However some addresses in Phuket town would also be of use.

We enjoyed Kan Eang in Chalong Bay. It's a great beachfront restaurant with excellent seafood. We had grilled lobster that was wonderful - but it was the most expensive meal we ate in Thailand. We also liked On the Rocks at Karon Bay.

Definitely go to the Boathouse at Kata Beach. It's a splurge, but worth it -- a wonderful place. Have fun.

I second the Boathouse. Make sure to call ahead for reservations. My wife tried the cooking class (we were staying next door at Kata Beach Resort) and really enjoyed it. Great wine list--they got us onto some great Australian wines because the California wines were too pricey. They also have a second restaurant (more casual) next door, the Little Lobster which is very good, too.

Try The Gallery in Kata beech it is just up the road from The Boathouse, we couldn't get a reservation in the Boathouse on the nights we wanted so wetried the Gallery , ask for a table on the terrace overlooking the sea, we had an absoultely amazing meal there though expensive

In Phuket Town the more upmarket Lai-An on Rasada Rd is very good - popular with the Chinese businessmen. For the backpacker crowd like me the Mae Porn on Phangnga Rd is very good value. Another promising one opened last time I was there just off Rasada Rd in Takua Pa Rd.

Hi there
or G'Day as we say. i lived in Phuket and all the resturants mentioned are great but like they say "expensive"!i would like to let you know that there are heaps of resturants that prepare the same but with out the fancy building so they dont have to charge so much. the same dish at the boat house would be a 1/3 of the price. So give it a go,and try the fried chicken that is sold on the side of the road from a motorbike with all the cooking gear attached to the bike, it is the best chicken i have ever eaten(oh yes i cook for a living).
some places to try are
Jimmy's Lighthouse
DIM'S(next to jimmy's)
RUNG NA PAR
all in Chlong Bay 10 mins from Kata beach. well good luck i hope you have a great time and i bet you go back.
Glenn

Bonjour et merci for all your recommendations. I have another question regarding the famous BaanRimPaa restaurant. Is it really worth the visit (and the expense) ?
