Restaurants in Bangkok

I only have a few nights in Bangkok, and I have a lot of restaurant recommendations. I was hoping I could get help narrowing some down. I had one person say they loved the buffet at the Bangkok sky restaurant on the 78th floor. I am trying to decide whether to eat there or at Tongue Thai. Someone else mentioned the Sala Rim Nam, so I was trying to decide between it and The Vientaine Kitchen. I only have 3 nights to decide and I love to include food in my planning because we love food. It's Chinatown for one night. Can anyone exclude any of these? Thanks for suggestions

The Tongue Thai comes up often on this site as good. Our Bob (of this list) has a great overview of places to eat, I know he would email to you. I was at Sala Rim Nam, and thought the food was ordinary. Most people go there for the show I think.

send me an email at rhkonthailand@msn. com and i will send you my restaurant listing for bkk...

tongue thai is now our favorite thai rest. in bkk....its small, and simple, but yet comfortable...there are perhaps only 20 tables and never seems to be very busy...its directly in back of the oriental hotel with on OP Place in between them...so it is easy to find...

you do not name the sky restaurant so i can't comment on it but if it is the one in the bayoke tower, i have heard very bad things about the food...have never been personally...if it in the banyon tree hotel, then the food is good and so is the view...more expensive than tongue thai however...

i hated sala rim but my wife thought it was ok...the food was average, at best, and the show and dinner are quite expensive and i found the seating uncomfortable...

for vietamese i would try le delat or le delat indochine, both on soi 23, sumhumvit rd....res. is necessary...same menu in both...

we also like harmonique which is next to the general post office, down a soi, off of new road not far from tongue thai...

many like cabbages and condoms, but i found the food bland there...

i never hear anyone mentioning restaurants in china town so i assume they are not outstanding....

for italian we love biscotti in the four seasons hotel...fantastic...

In general, I avoid buffets. There is no food that benefits from being held on steam tables.

My Fave Thai restaurants in Bangkok:
Lana Thai at Face
Lemongrass
MahaNaga

I think you are referring to the buffet at Bayoke Tower. It is good for the price and the view is fantastic. Mezzaluna at State Tower has better food and a better view for about 10X the price.

I've eaten at Vientienne Kitchen many times. It was one of my favorite restaurants in Bangkok. I think it is closed now? I haven't been there for about a year.

The Bed on Soi 11 is my favorite restaurant all around.
