Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. You are so lucky to be able to travel there for so long. We love Ikebukuro too! Can't wait to read about your Hokkaido adventures. Welcome home!!

When you go back to Tokyo,from what I've read(about you not being big on the nightlife) don't go to Shinjuku. Your not missing anything. First night I was there I got lost. I was staying at the Hyatt Regency, and left Shinjuku stations in the wrong direction and stumbled upon this placed call "Kabukicho" which is TKYO'S red light district. I was harassed for about an hour before this couple saw that as a 6'3 american with all his luggage on hand needed help and they pointed me in the right direction. Aside from maybe 2 inches of Shinjuku its kinda sleazy!!
