Red Sox Offerings

To anyone currently in Asia, feel free to make as many offerings as necessary on the Red Sox behalf when visiting temples or other sites. The Local chapter of Red Sox nation is no doubt beseeching Western Religions. All aid is welcome. This would be a true act of Merit. Thanks.

CFW Oct 23rd, 2004 07:55 AM

Gpanda, right on! Wasn't that an amazing pennant race? Could be a triple crown for you in November - Red Sox win the World Series, Kerry wins the election, and you go to Thailand. What could be better!

orgy7 Oct 23rd, 2004 08:50 AM

over here people can give a damn about baseball. while the yanks game was going on people werae more interested in the Barcelona VS AC milan game.

tomarow I'll go too Eraxan temple and offer up a picure of Babe Ruth wearing a red sox uniform and pray for the curse too contiunue..

rhkkmk Oct 23rd, 2004 10:10 AM

orgy...see if you can also affix that curse to the junior senator from massachusetts....

Craig Oct 23rd, 2004 03:02 PM

I see the Bosox have now contaminated the Asian board after doing the same on the US Board. Orgy - I'm with you - hope your offering works.

rhkkmk Oct 23rd, 2004 08:11 PM

one down

Gpanda Oct 25th, 2004 04:34 AM

2-0. This is no time to let up. Now more than ever, all deities should be appeased and enticed to the aid of the Red Sox.

Craig, I took a look at the US board "Joe Torre" thread. I agree that is a cheap shot. I'm seeking the higher path, accompanied by higher beings. Hence, the request for continued divine intervention of every sort. Go Pedro.

david923 Oct 25th, 2004 05:41 AM

This is the best year for the Reddies to finally win the World Series. The following week we will elect a new President on Tuesday and I will turn 70 on Wednesday.

Gpanda Oct 25th, 2004 06:20 AM

Let's stay "On Message". The Red Sox first. We don't want to overburden the afore-mentioned deities. They need to keep their focus.

BillT Oct 25th, 2004 09:06 AM

I believe the gods will grant only one miracle per season - so which is it to be- Red Sox or kerry?

david923 Oct 25th, 2004 11:47 AM

Okay, guys- I agree- let's focus on the Red Sox!!!

Gpanda Oct 26th, 2004 11:33 AM

Bill T-Don't make me choose. If no rainout, the events will occur in different months. One miracle per month does not seem too much. Remember, we're seeking the aid of many deities. They can split up the work. Can Terry Francona appoint Supreme Court Justices?

BillT Oct 26th, 2004 12:19 PM

Gpanda- you forget there is a huge bunch out there praying for the incumbent- and they are only asking only for one act of the deity- not 2!

Gpanda Oct 26th, 2004 12:35 PM

I fully recognize that an all-powerful being(s) may not be a Red Sox fan. In fact, there may be ample proof to the contrary. The original post was intended to seek the assistance of non-Western sources, who may not have been previously beseeched/inundated with Red Sox requests. I know the Western sources have been prayed to for many years without apparent success.

With respect to the Presidential race, I'm hoping (not praying) that the afore-mentioned all-powerful has lost his/her sense of humor and is ready to stop playing pracical jokes (see 2000 election).

Craig Oct 26th, 2004 02:14 PM

Not to be too off topic here, but can an attorney from Massachusetts be predisposed toward anyone but the democatic candidate? I don't think so. Good luck in game 3 by the way - may the non-western deities be with you (I'm going to bed at 10 as my season ended last week).

Craig Oct 26th, 2004 07:39 PM

Ok, so I lied - I'm still awake - this must be the first championship series game that didn't go past midnight. The gods still seem to be with you.

rhkkmk Oct 26th, 2004 07:43 PM

not only an attorney from MA, but also from Cambridge...

Gpanda Oct 27th, 2004 10:35 AM

3 down, but offerings are still needed. Been close before and am taking nothing for granted.

While I have very strong feelings about the election, I've done my best to keep them to myself. Bob has outed me on several occasions, but consider the source. My Red Sox paranoia has leaked into my election daydreaming and resulted in the following nightmare:

Kerry wins, but there is a state with disputed returns and a recount is called for by Bush. After wending its way through the lower courts, the case gets to the US Supreme Court and a recount is permitted (again applying the Equal Protection Clause). The results are reversed. Cambridge secedes from the Union.

As noted previously, my full attention is directed towards the first miracle. Go Sox.

Craig-the Yankees may get Pedro next year. Would this be a contested Paterninty suit?

Craig Oct 27th, 2004 12:09 PM

Gpanda - although he looked like the Pedro of old last night, the Yankees will never sign him (contested paternity suit or not) - Pedro is too much of an individual, just not Yankee material. The Red Sox will pony up the bucks to resign him.

Note that I am refraining from offering any further political commentary in this particular post.

Gpanda Oct 27th, 2004 12:55 PM

Still focused on Series. Forget Pedro for tonight, "we've got friends in Lowe places".For those that are not baseball obsessed , check out www.electoral-vote.com.

Craig Oct 27th, 2004 01:34 PM

Looks good to me.

rhkkmk Oct 27th, 2004 05:54 PM

cambridge left the union at least 3 decades ago...or should have....

Craig Oct 27th, 2004 07:40 PM

Bob - you shouldn't be checking Fodors during the game - doesn't matter now - congratulations on a great performance in the final 8 games.

rhkkmk Oct 27th, 2004 08:16 PM

i am running from computer room to bedroom....tear gas is going off at the moment...what a mess....karen got home safely...her hospital is 2 blocks west of fenway...

emd Oct 28th, 2004 04:08 AM

I wasn't going to post here, but now it is safe and it has led to travel. The strangest part of the whole thing was looking out my window in Northern VA as I watched the game last night and seeing the perfect lunar eclipse, then watching the moon turn orange before it slipped under cloudcover. A sign.
My wedding night was 10/25/86 (Bill B's big night), and the honeymoom was under a different kind of cloudcover (more so for my husband, a Tufts grad). I decided last night we are planning a second honeymoon now, since we can finally recover that lost time in 1986. Maybe go to Beantown.

BillT Oct 28th, 2004 04:22 AM

Bush can rest easy tonight - the gods have granted Boston their one miracle for this year- they don't get a two fer.

Gpanda Oct 28th, 2004 09:12 AM

Thanks to all who assisted in the Kharmic upheaval. For those counting on only one miracle, I draw your attention to the experiences (plural) in and around Egypt. Specifically, after 10 plagues were visited upon the Egyptians (it is said that these were of divine origin, hence, collectively a "miracle"), shortly thereafter ocurred the "parting of the Red Sea". This happened more than 86 years ago and a double miracle may be in the offing. We'll know shortly. Please note that I have refrained from requesting those in Asia to make offerings on this subject.

BillT Nov 4th, 2004 04:36 AM

Like I said- Boston only gets one miracle this year, now did all of you Bostonians choose the right miracle?

emtravel Nov 4th, 2004 06:23 AM

I guess there were no offerings in Thailand or maybe they did not help!!!!
Sophia

rhkkmk Nov 4th, 2004 06:31 AM

we chose correctly---the red sox and not they are back to being a bunch of bums

Gpanda Nov 4th, 2004 11:26 AM

I "elected" not to seek offerings for my choice in the Presidential race. While my political beliefs are dearly held, they do not rise to the level of religious devotion. Consequently, I thought it inappropriate to seek the intervention of any deities. (I didn't know they would apparently pay no attention whatsoever). Nonetheless, I am comfortable letting the Hegelian dialectic forces operate unencumbered by divine intervention. I have given some thought to extending my upcoming Thailand trip by four years, but I would miss the opportunity to periodically dine with Bob (RhkKmk) and ask him if he's changed his mind yet.

BillT Nov 4th, 2004 11:35 AM

Ok I'll step up and ask the obvious:
Hegelian dialectic
What is that??????

rhkkmk Nov 4th, 2004 05:35 PM

F O U R M O R E Y E A R S!!!

RED SOX ARE A BUNCH OF BUMS...

cambridge is up for sale to any third world country that wishes to add a city-state with marginally employable egg-heads...
