I know you can get amazing massages in fancy Bangkok hotels (at US prices), but I'd love to know some great places I can get great massage/treatments but pay less. Clean is key, good technique a must, fancy, less so. What do you recommend?

My favourite place for thai massage is at the the Wat Po massage school (not the place within the temple complex). Directions from the boat landing - walk through the market to the corner of the road, turn right and walk 4/5 blocks, turn right and it is a few yards down on the left.

The rooms are clean and airconditioned and above all the massages are the best I have experienced anywhere in Thailand and a REAL bargain.

I'm a fan of Face. It's very atmospheric, the treatment rooms are little teak Thai houses. The prices are quite reasonable and the massage is excellent. They also offer facials and body scrubs.

www.facebars.com click on Bangkok, then click on spa menu for all of your options and prices.
