Recommendations for spa treatments in Bangkok?

Hi

Do you guys have any recommendations for spa places in Bangkok? I know that most hotels have a spa department but at some of the 5 star hotels the treatments seems to be a bit on the expensive side (well, I haven't really checked it in detail ;-) ). But have any here on the forum tried spa places that are not connected to hotels? I have found that looks to be good (Dahra Beauty & Spa) but it is always hard to judge from the websites. Any recommendations?

I like Harnn in Siam Paragon -(plus the products) the shop is on the 4th floor. www.harnn.com
I had a great foot massage there in Feb. Not the cheapest but as i said the products are amazing.

Oh, the treatments look great, Smeagol! Perhaps we'll have time to check them out this trip.

just don't buy the hand cream unless you have a home equity loan...

Oh Bob it's not that expensive. Anyway the products are devine! I buy a ton of their stuff for me and as gifts everytime i am in BKK
Kathie - the rooms are small but the service was great. I popped by at about 5.45 one night and they fitted me right in. (they were also doing some special deals!!)

try ananda spa on Soi 11... Nice spa with a great service... pricey?! Not really... reasonable i guess..hehe..

this spa is located on the ground floor of President solitaire hotel. my friend used to stay there, and they said, you can use the room key of President group's hotels to get a privilege discount..

I had a very good "Traditional Thai Massage" upstairs over the Gallery Cafe close to the Royal Orchid Sheraton. It was recommended on this forum. Cost was 350B for a one hour massage. Later in the week I got a massage in a dive in Chaing Mai for 150B...I think the guy in the next curtain area was getting a "happy ending" to his massage because of the sounds coming from that area! I wouldn't recommend that place....but it did provide me with good material for my travel blog!!!!

I also like the Gallery Cafe for a good, inexpensive Thai massage.

Face has wonderful scrubs and massages. They are on soi 38, about a block away from the Thong Lor sky train station. The massages are done in private buildings that look like tiny Thai homes, and the grounds are beautiful- fish ponds, wooden decks, candles everywhere. It's a nice atmosphere. Each hut has a shower and toilet in their bathroom. My daughter and I each had the "rejuvenation package at 2500 baht. 1/2 hour scrub + 90 minute massage. We asked them to cut 30 minutes off the massage and got a 30 minute facial scrub and mask instead. Normally I like the hot compress massage, but I've gotten hooked on oil massages now, as they are less painful. Reservations are recommended.

The best massage I had all month, though, was at Madame Joe's in the Khao San area. It is on a small street off Khao San. Look for "New Joe's Guesthouse", then ask. There are a couple of them all in the same block. My daughter had gone three times for massages and manicures. This time she got a Thai massage and her legs waxed. I got an oil massage, since I'd had a Thai massage the day before at Face. I think the massages were 180 each and the waxing 350 bht. The place was very clean, cool, and there are double rooms if you come as a couple.

Try Hapa Spa. Soi 11, Sukhumvit. You can get also get to it from Soi 3. Near the hospital.

Good service and nice surroundings. Not too expense for what you get.
