Recommendations for airport hotel in Bangkok?
 

As the title says, please recommend hotel near BKK for overnight before early flight. Thanks so much.

The closest and nicest is the Novotel. The rack rates are just plan silly, but I've often gotten good rates at agoda.com There are several other hotels near the airport, but none as as close. Also make sure you are looking at the Novotel AT the airport, not one of the half-dozen Novotel calls "near" the airport that are 20 min or more away.

BTW, if you are staying in Bangkok, there is no reason to move out to the airport for your last night. There is no traffic in the early morning, and I can get to the airport in 20-25 minutes from the river. It does make sense to stay at the airport if you are flying in from somewhere else late in the day and need a place just for the overnight until your early morning flight. But if I even had half a day, I'd stay in Bangkok, not at the airport.

i visited the novotel last fall and was disappointed with the room i visited....plain and actually looked uncomfortable...

we always get up earlier, 3AM, and stay in the city....better comfort, cheaper and good food

We've stayed at the Novotel two or three times, each time we arrived about midnight at BKK from Seattle and had a flight out the next morning at about 8 or 9. I don't know what you saw, Bob, but the rooms we've had have been comfortable, clean, well-furnished, and they have nice, thick towels and comfortable beds - the features we are most interested in after a long. long flight before heading off on another flight.

Nonetheless, the rooms don't hold a candle to the place we stay in Bangkok.

Thanks so much for the info. The Novotel and All Seasons Bangkok Huamark (previously Ibis) are what I came up with, so good to have some first-hand info.

We'll be arriving just before midnight from Chiang Mai and leaving early the next morning so the airport seems like an easy solution if we want a few hours sleep.

Like kathie we have had a good experience with the Novotel. The room was great for what we needed. We arrived & were then departing very early the next morning for Bhutan. Yes the rates are higher than in Bangkok itself but if I was doing it again I would stay at the Novotel. I think with your schedule it will work very well. I actually ended up getting a good rate straight with the hotel when we did it but as Kathie suggests check a couple of different web sites.

We have also stayed at the Novotel with similar experiences as Kathie. Nice place to stay after a long trip to BKK with flights elsewhere in the morning.
