Recent Experience with Air Malaysia & Asia Air?
 

We have to decide whether to fly on Air Malaysia or Asia Air from Phuket to Kualar Lumpur. What experience in the past 6 months has anyone had on either or both airlines? I am interested in their on-time departure, cleanliness of airplanes/service and price vs. Thai Air.Thanks,

Are you referring to Malaysia Airlines? If so we've flown them to Mumbai from Johore Bahru via KL and return trip in Feb/Mar 2005. They are an excellent airline, reliable, on-time, clean planes & toilets, great food and service, cheaper than Thai for a similar flight ex BKK. Not flown Air Asia but I would, given the opportunity. Have heard nothing but good stuff, about them. I love Thai also, however they are more expensive on flights we've priced.

Air Asia is a budget airline while Malaysia Airlines and Thai Airways are full service airlines, so there is significant difference in price depending on when you book your tickets - on certain dates, Air Asia to Phuket can be as low as US$5 (excluding tax).

All 3 airlines are clean and comfy.

before you think too much about confort.. check out how long the flight is may'be an hour...

air asia may be half the price and offers good service..

the only reason anyone should opt for malaysia air is for better/more schedualling options and if they really really want miles too top off an account..

Malaysia Airlines is usually twice a day, Air Asia once, both use Boeing 737-300 aircraft, legroom and service on Malaysia Airlines naturaly better as full service Airline. The flight is 1 hr 20 minutes. The cheapest seats on Air Asia go very very fast, yes, if lucky you can get a seat for about USD 20 but once the cheap ones have gone the fares go up, though still reasonable. Like any budget airline if there is a delay or cancelation 'that is life', whereas with a full service airline you have the other benefits, but for such a short flight I would take the best fare you can get.
