Ratt Tours
Hi Everyone
Thank you very much for your help so far with planning our itinerary. We are taking our 3+ yr old to BKK end March for 3 days (4n) and have booked Ratt for a full day on Sunday 26th. Ratt has recommended the Sunday tour, and I wonder what you think of the following: Sunday: 8:00 am Grand Palace, Wat Pho, lunch at Methavalai near Democracy Monument, to Vimanmek Mansion and Jim Thompsons House. dinner: Raan Derm SukSoi22 Monday: 8:00 Klong Tour (including Wat Arun) afternoon: Thai Massage dinner: Suan lum nite market Tuesday: shop 'till we drop! Cheers and thanks |
While Monday and Tuesday look great, the Sunday tour is more than our now 8 year old seasoned traveller could or would do. I'd do only half a day and retire to the pool after lunch. It's been our experience that too much of a day dedicated to sightseeing makes for a miserable time for all of us.
You might change Sunday afternoon to Tuesday morning. Then if on Sunday she's happy and still able to go on, you could do some shopping, and do a little more shopping on Tuesday as well. Our daughter loved the Jim Thompson house at age 8, but was more than bored with Vimanmek mansions when she was almost 5. Just after lunch, there is Thai dancing at Vimanmek, so that might be interesting to your daughter...we missed it by being too late. Our daughter also loved the Joe Louis puppet theater in Suan Lum. It's entertaining, so if your daughter can stay awake for it, you might consider going. |
Thanks KimJapan
3rd revision!! Sunday: 8:00 am Grand Palace & Wat Pho Afternoon shopping Malls Dinner Sukhumvit Monday: Klong Tour, Wat Arun Afternoon: Thai Massage & Pool Dinner: Suan lum nite market (Joe Louis Puppet Theatre if we can) Tuesday: Jim Thompson's House Cafe for lunch Afternoon: shopping Dinner: Sirocco (babysitting!) We really want our 3 yr old to enjoy her holiday too! Thanks for the help |
I think this sounds much more reasonable for everyone. Enjoy!

Your schedule might also depend on when you get to BKK and where you're coming from.
I think that folks from Europe might have a different kind of jet lag than from the US. Of course this is pure conjecture. |
it looks pretty agressive for a 3 year old to me....and why a klong tour at 8AM---so early...
|
Hi
Main reason for early start is to get a fair bit of sightseeing done before heat kicks in. We could split up and leave shopping to mum while dad and baby sit by the pool (Im sure dad would be happy!) We are arriving from Australia. |
When in the boat for the Klong Tour, you'll be relatively cool. This can be done in the afternoon when it's really hot. The breeze and water moderate the heat.
