Railay Bay
 

Any advice on where to go?<BR><BR>Don't know if I should stay in Krabi or go to Phi Phi.<BR><BR>Has anyone stayed at Railay Bay Bungalows?<BR><BR>Or would Lanta be a better place to visit?<BR><BR>Thanks in advance.

A friend, my husband and I visited Railay last January and are returning in a few weeks - we can't wait! We rented a house at the Railei Beach Club last year. It was really neat, but had no electricity during the night which was the only downfall (it would have been nice to have the ceiling fan on). This year we are staying at the Sand and Sea Resort, I'll miss the wide open spaces of the Beach Club though. We chose the Sand and Sea because we liked their breakfast best last year, most of the bungalows appeared pretty similar between the different resorts. We liked Phra Nang beach which you can walk to from East Railay (that's the beach in front of the Rayavadee, but is open to all). We visited Ko Phi Phi too, Tonsai town is overdeveloped, but there are still beautful beaches to go to. We stayed at the PhiPhi Princess which I would recommend. On both Railei and PhiPhi we hired longtail boats to take us to beaches only accessible by boat. We hired a speed boat one day to take us to Ko Phi Phi Ley to see Maya Bay from the movie the beach and a few other spots around the island. <BR> <BR>Check out photos from our trip at<BR>http://kerstentraveler.tripod.com/thailand2002.htm

Krabi is paradise. Just back this week. We stayed at Rayavadee. Fab but beyond expensive. If I went again I would stay at place recommended by last responder. Most beautiful beaches imaginable.

Lana,<BR>That's a tough one... I'm going back to Railay so I guess I'd pick that over PhiPhi. You can do a day trip to PhiPhi from Railay - you have to see Ko Phi Phi Ley and Maya Bay but Phi Phi Don can be missed.

Railay Railay Railay.<BR>Paradise with a human face. Don't stay at Rayavadee. OK so it's posh but it's a package place. Sand and Sea resort is good. Railay Village is where we stayed. It was fine. Great restaurants and bars on both sides. You'll love it.

I agree that the Sand Sea is wonderful. Try to stay on WEst Railey if possible. Laem Phra Nang has to be the most beautiful beach in the world -- the cliffs, the caves, the jade green clear water. Take day trips to the islands. And try to do some kayaking farther afield in Phang Nga bay -- unforgettable.
