Rail travel - Cleartrip tickets?
 

We've booked three different legs of train travel using Cleartrip but we're left wondering exactly how do we use the e-tickets they've issued to us.
Do we simply board the train with our printed e-tickets and find our seats or must we queue up at the railway station anyway?
On one leg, the e-tickets don't have specified coach/seat numbers. They simply state all of the pertinent details including class of travel (First AC 1A). The other two legs' tickets do specify the coach/seat numbers onboard either AC 3 tier 3A or AC 2 tier 2A.

With e-tickets you should be able to just board and find your seat. When the conductor comes around, show your e-ticket.

For unassigned seats, go to your train platform and there should be a chart with your name and seat number. Sometimes they don't assign seats until the day of travel. There are enough people around, you can also ask others.

We bought all our train tickets on Clear trip. They all had seat numbers however. I was worried the first time, as all I had was the piece of paper from my computer, but it was no problem. The conductor just came and checked our ticket.
There were rooms/lounges in the trains stations that we were in for travellers, (foreigners) to check things out with staff who spoke English. You can look for one of those if you need assistance.

The other thing that I would suggest to you , especially the first time to take a train, is to hire a porter to carry your bags at the station. They will put your bags on thier heads and take you right to where you need to go. These guys make only the tips that you give them BTW, but you show them your ticket, they will take you right to your platform and come back (usually) when your train arrives and help you get settled in your seat. Worth a big tip in my opinion.

If you use the porters, negotiate your price before they take your luggage so they don't haggle you AFTER delivering your luggage. Also, you may need to tell them not to go far ahead of you in the crowd. Count your luggage and keep track of the porters.

Use only authorized porters - they have a badge or medallion on their outfit.
