Gemini, the fact that you don't see your post as nasty makes it even worse.

GeminiRising Sep 5th, 2011 06:14 PM

Hi. Of course not all Thais are corrupt, but exceptionally high prevalence in the business sector.

Again, nasty? Not at all, just being factual.

Thanks for your responses!

Btw, Wonderful gesture to do this for the kids. Are basic science books acceptable?? Can they be mailed?

the question i posed is to seek assistance in the purchase of appropriate books for the 12 and under group at an orphanage in thailand. the books to be written in thai.

rhkkmk Sep 6th, 2011 06:36 AM

in further checking i have now learned that the youngest kids is 8 and that most of them are between 8 and 14.

Ah ha... forget the books I threw out there then. That age difference is important! Maybe Sandra can give us some good suggestions.

And yes, Craig, I like the clique-y-ness here. Getting to personally know a number of the regulars here has made this place feel so much like 'home' and TA seems so much more impersonal now.

Hanuman Sep 6th, 2011 08:02 AM

And now some of the regular Fodorites have begun to become friends on Facebook as well......

simpsonc510 Sep 6th, 2011 08:08 AM

Yep... I tend to go in and out of facebook though, hanuman. I get bored with it and stop checking in. I'm always here on fodors though.

Hanuman Sep 6th, 2011 08:14 AM

That's because with Facebook you are only interacting with your friends and not strangers like here and on TA. It's very good for sharing photos or videos with friends!

Carol and Hanuman:

I check them both on an almost daily basis. But my e-mail IS checked daily. Really enjoy the comaraderie on all of them.

Spell check ~~ should have been commaraderie!

BTW, Carol ~~ don't know about others, but I still enjoy Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit ~~ age, what's that?

Counting the days! SEA here we come, but the TX wildfires are getting closer to us (Bastrop is about an hour from us).

I've been seeing those fires on the news. Terrible stuff! When are you leaving for BKK? I can't remember what you told me before.

simpsonc510 Sep 6th, 2011 10:17 AM

BTW, Brad is in the city on the 29th of this month.

simpsonc510 Sep 6th, 2011 10:18 AM

That should be UNTIL the 29th. He's there now. I think he goes to Samui sometime around the 23rd though.

rhkkmk Sep 6th, 2011 03:44 PM

brad is helping with some printing in bkk for us...
