Pullman King Power Bangkok or Sofitel Sukhumvit or S15?
 

(i've decided to re-post with another title and hoping to get some feedback)

Me and fiancee are visiting Thailand for the first time in mid Oct and are going to stay in BKK for two nights.

We are trying to decide on a hotel and was told by our friends that it's very important to be closed to MTR or BTS. Yet, our friends recommended Pullman King Power that I found out to be not that close to MTR or BTS. Is that true? Should I stay at Pullman? Other hotels I am considering are Sofiel Sukhumvit or S15.

i just looked at S15 and honestly it scares me a bit....it looks hip but i bet it is cheaply put together and not all that grand....stick with something known..

I agree that it is important to have easy access to the Skytrain. You're unlikely to use the subway system.

Someone on the board recently stayed at the Pullman and liked it, but they had to take a taxi or tuk-tuk every time they wanted to get to the skytrain.

The S15 is right on Sukhumvit, so it could be a bit noisy. Sofitel is set back a ways so it should be quieter.

Not sure why you'd have to take a taxi from the Pullman. I've walked to the Skytrain to the hotel the 2 or 3 times I've been there. It's maybe 5 minutes, and there is a complementary tuk-tuk between the hotel and the station if you don't want to walk. It's a nice hotel, But all the Novotels (the Pullman was designed to be a Novotel & Accor changed it at the last minute) are beginning to look alike to me.

As I posted on your other thread, I've just stayed at the Sofitel. It is a lovely hotel. The walk to the skytrain is maybe 6-7 minutes, depending on how fast you walk, and which route you opt to take to get there.

I know its not on your list but have you though of the Novotel on Siam Square? It is c;ose to teh BTS interchange and is one of teh most convenient hotels for travel around town. I stayed at teh Ibis which is close to teh Pullman and found it to be quite inconvenient for getting aroung=d (but cheap!). I did stay at the Sofitel a few years ago but was not impressed - it was due a refurb which it has proable got by now.

Crellston, this Sofitel is new; not in need of refurbish. I've watched it get built from the ground up. You must be thinking of another Sofitel... >
