proper men's wear at Nepalese wedding

We will be attending a wedding ceremony during first week of December in KTM. Should a western guest wear a suit/jacket and tie? A western woman? What about the receptions? Thanks

A suit and tie is completely appropriate. Western men's wear is common in India/Nepal.

A western woman can wear a sari or a western outfit as long as it's on the conservative side (ie with sleeves, no cleavage, and at or below the knee). Weddings are colorful, so women can get away with brighter colors. Since buying saris and getting the matching little blouse tops takes time, it may be more practical to go with western attire.
