and see your travel doctor/clinic for specific recommendations that apply to you. |
There is nothing required...but there are shots you should take to be safe. Cdc site is excellent and will give you some idea. If you are going in January..you should sart very soon. I am not sure that every state is the same..but here the local doctor does not give them and we have to go to a company called Passport Health. Be prepared..very expensive and not all health insurance companies cover these.

Very true. You need to get started, esp. if you need the typhoid capsules. They have to be taken in advance. My insurance covered the malarial pills but not the typhoid. I think for one person it was around $100.00.

My Dr. recommended Tetanus/Diptheria booster, Hepatatitis A, Polio booster, and Typhoid Fever. I also got the Meningitis shot just in case as there was an outbreak last year in Delhi. We got the pills for Malerone for malaria to take on the trip. Our Dr. also gave us a prescription for an high-sode anitbiotic (zithromax)to take in case we get a stomach bug. You only have to take 3 doses instead of taking for 10 days. Get the shots at least one month in advance!!! The earloer the better.
