Prasart logistics

I've read many posts about this museum, and all seem to suggest that you need a driver/guide to do it. I'm not quite clear if the museum itself would provide a guide for visitors, and would it be redundant to have your own guide along? Guides aside, has anyone visited this place by just taking a taxi or some combination of public transportation?

the museum provides a private guide for you ....

it is difficult to find and a taxi probably would have tons of trouble, plus we understand that mr prasart does not like to have taxis sitting outside his gate...??

hire a driver for 4 hours and it will work perfectly....

you need to make an advance res....they have no website....you or your driver must call for you or your hotel...it must be in advance however...

they only see about 15 people per day...no buses, etc....no groups...

Note that the Prasart allows only one party on the grounds at a time. So you will be the only visitors during your time there. The Prasart guides are superb. All you need is a driver to get you there. There is no public transport to this area, and I think a taxi would never find it. After you've been there, you'll know what we mean.

Thanks, rhkkmk and Kathie. I guess hiring a driver is the way to do it. The consensus on this board appears to be Ratt(sp.?), Tong (who's really a guide), and julietaxi. Since transportation is all I'm after, I suppose the cheapest of the three will do? Has anyone used another car-for-hire that you would recommend? We have 4 adults and 1 eleven-year-old, so would we need a minivan?

You will probably need a mini van since the cars aren't all that big.

so any of the drivers might do...you do not need a licensed guide like tong....so ratt or one of her associates would work perfectly...

We used Julie's Taxi and it worked great. I called the museum from the US a month ahead of time. The collection and grounds are stupendous.
