Possible to travel Kyoto to Kansai on day of travel for a morning flight?
Hi,
I am wondering if we can plan to travel from Kyoto to Kansai on the travel day to take an international flight at 10 am. Is it fairly easy to get to the airport from Kyoto (one train or requires change of trains?). How long does the journey take? Are there trains as early as 6 or 7 am that we can take to play it safe?
If this cannot be done then we have no option but to leave Kyoto, stay in Osaka for 1 night and then travel to the airport from Osaka but I would like to avoid yet another hotel check-in/check-out.
Please advise.
Thanks

Yes, it is possible.
Hyperdia -- www.hyperdia.com -- is your friend for finding information. The Haruka train goes from Kyoto directly to Kansai Airport, and there's a train leaving at 6:46 that arrives at KIX at 8:14, which should be ample time. Other trains are also available (the earliest arrives at 7:11), all shown in Hyperdia.

As Rizz states it is not only possible but done more often than you can imagine. There is also the limosine bus from Kyoto Station option or if you need a more private ride the MK Taxi service

Ditto what other says. I took the 6:22a Haruka Limited Express in August this year.
About the bus, I thought about doing that, as the train is actually not that fast. But I just hate to worry about traffic when stuck in a bus having a plane to catch. For KIX -> Kyoto, i would probably take the bus instead.
