Poppies Resort-Koh Samui Comments?

We are headed to Samui for 4 nights in late November. Traveling with 2 kids, ages 10 and 15. Anyone have comments about Poppies or the Amari hotel? Or any other fairly upscale resorts there? Should we be looking at other areas than Chaweng?

can't comment on Poppies as didn't stay there but I've only heard good reports. As for Chaweng, what are you looking for? Personally I thought it a lot bigger than I'd expected. There are also a lot of "girlie" bars which you may not be too happy for your kids to see. However , they mainly tended to be off the main street so could be avoided.
PS you won't believe the airport! It must be one of the most beautiful in the world!!

Stayed at Poppies a couple years ago and we were very happy. We don't have children but I remember thinking at the time it would be a great place to bring them. The pool is small but nice and the beach is wide and the sand is beautiful. The food was excellent. It is a small property and a longer stay might get feeling a bit too small but four nights sounds great.

I toured the area a bit and wasn't too impressed with other places. We were happy to stay put at Poppies.

Sue

P.S. Don't be discouraged by the front desk appearance. Wait until you get past the front wall to judge.

Hi,

We Stayed for 6 night in Koh Saumi last year (Sept) WE were in World Resort, Bophut Village, really lovely, (we are going back again this year) quiet, relaxing and safe- perhaps not much for the kids to do other than the pool and the beach on your doorstep (depends on how much activity they want) - however transport to all other parts of the island is so easy and cheap that this may not be a problem. Chaweng is a busy town, good for shopping but not very relaxing till you7 head down to the beaches.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I think I am sold on Poppies. Now my only concern is the weather. We are planning to go in Nov., which is monsoon season. However I'm told that while it does rain at some point most days, it can also be quite nice the rest of the time. Anyone been there at that time of year?
