Pokhara lodging - HELP -- for husband currently traveling Manang to Pokhara

I just got a satleite call from my husband who is spending 3 weeks in Nepal trekking around Manang. He is apparently going to Pokhara, which he had not planned on, and asked me to research lodging. Can anyone suggest a good hotel/inn etc? Sounds like the going rate is $5-10, but price is not really an issue, so would appreciate any help narrowing down what sounds like 250 choices. (Quiet, clean, well located and interesting would be top criteria!)

Have checked Trip Advisor and tried a few reservations but everything is coming up full. Could that be correct that this is such a busy time that he will have trouble finding lodging??

Heya Ms - I can't help thinking you're wasting your time. Your husband can sort his accom on the ground far, far more easily than you ever will in cyberspace. Pokhara has a strong tradition of backpackers, ferals and gap-year children, all of whom are incapable of tying their shoelace, let alone thinking a day in advance.

So relax, all he really has to do is arrive, look round and grab a room. In the $$ zone you are talking about, only a fool would take a room without seeing it first.

I agree with dogster. You would be unlikely to find him accommodation from a distance, but he'll rock into Pokhara and find a place to stay in a few minutes.

BTW, if he wants to splurge, the Fishtail Lodge used to be the best place in town.

Thanks dogster and kathie. I am only looking into this because he asked me to. He knows there are a lot of places to stay and just wanted some diretion on where to head first. He is at the end of a three week trip, and is not spending months there, so I thought haveing a few decent suggestions would make things simpler. Will tell him about Fishtail Lodge, though he doesn't care that it is the best in town as much as just a clean decent place to stay. (If it were Kathmandu I would tell him to stay at the Vajra Hotel - my favorite!)

Well, having spent a few weeks getting really dirty, off in outer space on similar expeditions, I can tell you now that you need to check him into the best hotel in town. He'll weep at the sight of a real live shower. He can get laundry done and have food delivered. And sleep in a bed. Ahhhh

Fishtail is... O.K. They threw me out once, claiming over-booking or some such. I think they lied.

Thanks again for advice. Not sure what is up, but every site I put the dates in comes up with no availability. I sent him a text message and he can figure it out when he gets there!

He ended up at the Hotel Diplomat, right around the corner from the Sacred Valley Inn. Likes it a lot. Sounds reasonable and decent.
