Pls help me decide on rain gear & binoculars!
Leaving Thurs am, going carry-on. Trying to decide on rain gear. Going Thailand, Vietnam, Laos & Singapore. Taking travel umbrella but trying to decide on;
a] microfiber rain jacket-can wear on plane for warmth but my guess will end of carrying the rest of the trip. b] breathable poncho-not too city smart but lays flat in bottom of bag c] pocket size plastic poncho-will fit in daybag but not breathable-can throw at end of trip to make room for SHOPPING d]forget all of the above What would you choose? Thx again! PS. Seriously thinking of leaving the binoc's home. |
Forget all of the above except your umbrella. It's way too steamy for ponchos and jackets!
Unless you are going places for bird watching, I'd leave the binoculars at home. |
Completely agree with Kathie.......except forget even the brolly. When it rains in S.E.A.,someone always appears selling brollies.....CHEAP!!!

if you are going to temples, etc opera glasses (light) can be good to see detail better, tho camera zoom will also you there. I recommend the binocs. Taking your brolly wont hurt, surely.

Take the travel umbrella. It doesn't take up much space and you don't want to have to be searching for an umbrella salesman in a downpour.
|
Buy a couple of the cheap plastic rain ponchos there. they cost about 25-50 cents. When the rain starts dumping, you won't care if it is breathable! Toss it when it rips.

I've only been to Vietnam of the places you mentioned. Just want to make sure you are not going to the far north. If you are planning on visiting places in Vietnam such as Bac Ha or SaPa in Feb., you will want that microfiber jacket for warmth.
