To be perfectly clear, if you are a single traveller staying by yourself in a room it will cost ¥18,000 yen for one night. If you are 2 people together sharing a room, the price for one night will be ¥36,000.

Actually, I got the one person rate wrong. Here's the deal from their website.

Half Twinfrom ¥18,000 to 30,000 per person including "Dinner" and "Breakfast".

Single Use from ¥25,000 to 35,000
( If you don't have dinner or breakfast, please let us know in advance. )

(All rates are per person per night and subject to 5 % tax.)
We can accept credit cards, and money exchange at front desk is available.

Japan Railpass??

I'm confused. I'm also going to Tokyo July 1-9. Should I get one as well? I'm not taking any trips outside tokyo-- but does this work like a 7-day metrocard in nyc?

A Japan Rail Pass cost over 28000 yen or maybe $250 US. If you will just be in the Tokyo area, you don't need it. Basically people who are traveling around, such as to Kyoto and back will benefit. I have made two trips to Japan so far - one to Tokyo and one to Kyoto. I did not need the pass although in Kyoto I did buy a one day Japan West Pass for my trip to Himeji.

No, you don't need a JR pass to stay in Tokyo.

I think there are however various one day and multiday cards you can get for travel around Tokyo. I have never gotten them as there are so many diff. subway lines and they are all run by diff. companies. For me it is just easier to pay as I go around Tokyo.

DIANAS,

Just to make sure you understand what I was saying -- it seemed to me that you thought your night's stay at Yoshi-Ima would be 18000 yen. Since you said that "we" are planning a last minute trip..., I assumed that there would be two of you in which case your stay at Yoshi-Ima would be 36000 yen (18000 yen each) rather than 18000 yen. I said that I didn't want you to be surprised that it was double what you thought, assuming you thought that the one night would be 18000 yen total.

Am I making sense?

Judy

Judy..... OK. THANK YOU. But yes, I am totally aware of the fact that the rate at YOSHIIMA is per person per night.
I was able to get a 20,000 YEN/ per person - garden view room. The rest are sold out.

I'm anxious to hear what you think of Yoshi-Ima when you return since we have reservations there for August 6.

I will tell you all about the YOSHIMA.REady to go!!!
