Congratulations on you forthcoming wedding. I woud start reading up on the country online or in a guidebook. And then coming back with some more information about yourselves e.g.
Why have you chosen Malaysia?
What are your interests?
E.g. beach, food, jungle, mountains wildlife, cities
All of the above?
What is your budget, luxury, mid range or budget hotels?
This info will enable forum members to provide suggestions revealing to you rather than just wildly guessing at what you may enjoy.

I would spend some time in Georgetown, Penang (Malaysia) and also maybe on Langkawi as it's not far from Penang. I love going to Malaysia and have been going since the early 2000s and will be back in Penang next month.
Malaysia is great for food and the people are really friendly. Plus, it's a really inexpensive country. Below are a couple of Mark's vlogs. He's American, married to a Thai woman, lives in Bangkok and travels the S.E. Asia region and reports mainly on food.

What part of Malaysia are to planning to visit - peninsular Malaysia or Malaysian Borneo (Sabah and Sarawak)? The two areas are very different from each other.
Start your planning with good guidebook. The Lonely Planet has one that covers this whole area.

If you are just married, your passports will not match. As a precaution, you might consider carrying a copy of your marriage certificate. Malaysia has some fairly strict ideas, and in smaller areas you might need proof you are married for a hotel room. My idea could be old-fashioned and well out of date, and certainly does not intend any offence to Malaysia, but it can't hurt.
