Please help in choosing a destination
 

Hello everyone,
We are a group of 5 friends, planning to finalise a destination and itinerary for 3days 2nights. Need help in finalising location for the trip during Feb/March 2018.
Malaysia / Thailand (any one good island )
Bali/ Hong Kong
Please suggest a friendly destination and sight seeing itinerary.
We are a beach loving girls.

Bali...but if you want to see it properly I would suggest 6 nights...3 on the beach at Seminyak and 3 in the mountains at Ubud.

You have very little time for this trip. Note that two nights is never 3 days, but is one full day and a few hours on two other days. If it were me, I'd want to go somewhere I could fly non-stop to from Mumbai. Of the places you list, Hong Kong is not a beach destination. Can you fly non-stop from Mumbai to Phuket? If so, that would likely be your best choice, as there is good weather that time of the year and there are lots of resorts to choose from in that area - not just Phuket, but also Krabi, Ko Lak and Koh Lanka, for instance. Langkawi in Malaysia would also be nice, but i expect you would have to connect through Kuala Lumpur. I love Bali, but you don't have enough time.

I agree with Kathie about the time factor. If you are leaving from Mumbai what about Sri Lanka?

You're likely to get rain in Bali in February. March is transitional, but still 50/50 rain/sun. March 17 is Nyepi, a major Balinese holiday during which the airport is closed and no one (including tourists) is allowed to leave their family compound or hotel/resort grounds.

If you havent gone - I'd suggest Singapore! It is safe, fun, everything is easily accessible and clean. The only drawback is that you might a little more here than its neighbouring countries.

Like some of the previous posts mention - not a lot of time for your holiday. Can you stay longer?

Bali is very popular with solo women and women in small groups, some go for the beaches and some go for the Kuta Cowboy gigolos! :blush:

Phuket Thailand. Not a cheap city in Thailand but probably cheaper than Singapore and Hong Kong.

Some younger tourists choose Koh Phangan for the "Full Moon" parties. More teenagers than retirees. Google this up if interested.

For five ladies, an odd amount, not not always that easy to find accommodation. Also hard to fit 5 ladies in the same taxi so a van usually has to do. Sometimes odd person has to use the lumpy roll out bed.

Assuming you need a beach because you actually intend to swim in the water as opposed to just looking at it and using a pool. Some beach areas are cheaper but the water quality is not as good so tourists use hotel pools. A lot depends on what you intend to do.

Three days 2 nights is not really worth the effort unless you only need a selfie photo for show and tell back home.

Bali is a prefect travel destination for those who want to spend their time with friends. Priya as you've mentioned that you guys are looking for beach sights so you can consider this. Here you can find a beautiful beaches and enjoy full time on the lap of nature.

HK/Bali has a wider scope between the two places. But fwiw, HK is very expensive. IMO, even by western standards.

I think that you are going to struggle to find somewhere that provides beach and sightseeing that is suitable for a 3 night trip from Mumbai. Dealing with the places I've been to, Sri Lanka fulfils both criteria and it's not far from Colombo airport to the beach resorts but the good sightseeing [Cultural triangle, Kandy] is a long way from the beach]. HK is great sightseeing but not much by way of beach. I've not been to the other places you mention but I do hope you find somewhere you like.

Of course, there's always Goa. Plenty of beaches, and Old Goa and assorted temples for culture.

Three days is not long enough to enjoy the places you visit. There is transit time to consider just to get to the airport, the length of the flight, picking up bags and immigration procedures travel to your hotel, unpacking, etc. Stay longer overseas so you get your money's worth on the cost of your flights.

Thailand is very popular with tourists from India. Quite a few are repeat visitors. But like you ladies, too often they choose short visits and often think they can do more than time available. Thailand is very tourist friendly but Bangkok where many trips begin is not that close to GOOD beach locations where the water is clean enough swim in. Bangkok has 2 airports. Bangkok is good for shopping, a variety of hotel selections and even has city rail transportation. City rail transportation available from Suvarnabhumi Airport before midnight. But not from Don Muang Airport. (Not yet anyway.)

* There is a beach area about 2 hours drive from Bangkok but the water quality is no good for beach swimming. Cheap hotels, cheap local transportation, good restaurants lots of nightlife of all kinds. Most tourists who want to get wet use hotel pools. Pattaya is the cheapest beach location in Thailand and nearest to Bangkok but water quality is no good! Good for fun though and easy to get to from Bangkok. You always see tourists from India in Pattaya. Not all are single males or roving groups of males, you also see big family groups too. Some with extended family groups including grandparents, uncles and aunts and kids from time to time.

Look over a map and research the distance, time required for flying and cost. Check the weather available for the month you visit. Some beach areas better than others during different times of the year.

When planning your flights my suggestion is to avoid arriving in a foreign country for the first time during the middle of the night. Fewer transportation choices, you still pay full price for a hotel room you use half the time and less to do during darkness in an unfamiliar city.

You can visit a travel agency in your hometown and ask their advice and cost. But be wary if they suggest too much stuff for a short visit!
