Confused; Burma, Laos, Vietnam

My husband and I are trying to pick a bike trip for this November. Our 1st choice is Burma (based on time & itinerary) but he is worried that it will be similar to past trips to China (biking), Thailand or Nepal (trekking). My thought is that Burma will be unlike these countries since we will be seeing a simpler, old-fashioned way of life. In the way of cultural diversity, sites and natural beauty, how would you compare Burma, Laos or Vietnam. Both Burma and Laos sound better for bikers!

I would expect that either Burma or Laos would be fairly different from your previous trips. Both do have some Chinese cultural influence, but both are quite different from China. In Burma, there are restrictions on where you can go that you would need to consider. Of course, there are also the political issues in Burma (I'm assuming you know the considerations about visiting Burma). Both Burma and Laos are like take a step (or several steps) back in time.

..the roads in Laos are poor- mostly unpaved(except in cities) You will need the equivalent of a dirt bike (IMO)

I would think the easiest place would be Vietnam.
