What is everyone else's opinion? How does Vietnam rate in the scheme of things compared to other Asian countries? And why?

Dogster - Of course I have an opinion and will make a decision after gathering information. That is the purpose of asking questions and reading these threads. Since I have not been to Asia or studied the area thoroughly, I am fact gathering now to make a wise decision based on what I learn here and in guidebooks which I am presently reading.
