The Baan Orapin is a wonderful guesthouse. Owner lives on site in his grandmother's house, and has built (and continues to build) another house and several rooms on the site; they are Lanna-style. It is adjacent to the Ping River and in an area of many boutiques, restaurants and cafes. The owner is very accomodating; choice of 2-3 breakfast meals; excellent location. CM is very walkable, but there are many tuk-tuks that are inexpensive (cheap!). Thai massages are everywhere and inexpensive. Food is ssssooooo tasty. Happy travels.

Whether you find it hot and humid will depend on what you are used to. Those of us who live here find December cold and will be wearing woollies!

During December the average maximum daytime temperature is 28 with a minimum overnight temperature of 14. Humidity will be high in the mornings, about 96%, but will drop in the afternoon to around 57%. You will be very unlucky to see any rain.

If you venture into the hills above Chiang Mai, expect lower temperatures, approaching zero overnight.

Of course, these are only averages, it has been as hot as 36 in December and as low as 6.

You have certainly picked the best time to visit and I’m sure you will have a great holiday.
